EDIT: I played some further, and still don't understand what the handalphabets that are used as runes are shown for? Why should the characters in the game know the runes? So far I haven't met any character that are deaf or are in need of hand alphabets...
Hi there! First of all, thank you so much for playing and for your sweet words about the game! I truly appreciate you sharing your perspective as a deaf gamer and programmer.
To answer your question: in this current version, the hand alphabets are used as a way to cast magic. Because this game was originally built for a game jam with a very tight deadline, the implementation is admittedly not as fleshed out as I would have liked, and there aren't any NPCs who utilize sign language yet. The initial vision was simply to introduce players to the sign language alphabet and raise some awareness.
On a personal note, I’ve been taking this very seriously; late last year, I graduated from Level 1 of the Indonesian Sign Language (Bisindo) program held by Pusbisindo, focusing on fingerspelling, basic vocabulary, and everyday conversation. This opened my eyes to the depth of sign language. I have since been consulting with Deaf friends and experienced game developers on how my team and I can properly integrate these concepts into the game moving forward.
Your feedback makes total sense and is incredibly valuable to us. Also, best of luck with your game, 'Just Prices'! I'll definitely check your profile. Thank you again!
I'm a deaf female gamer and programmer. This is very sweet adventure game that melted my heart! I'm a bit confused about who are the hand alphabets made for? They are used as Runes in the game, so is it correct that nobody is deaf in the game? If you are interested in such game, please take a look at my sign language-based game "Just Prices" in my profile. It is still in development.
di tunggu bang versi full nyaa ciao
This game is so cool, looking forward to play this game
Hi, I'm a deaf artist and it was a delight seeing my own language (ASL) in this game!! might play this again to learn the other sign languages' alphabet, thank you for making this!
i am curious if you have anyone on your team that is deaf :O
Hi there !!
Thank you so much for your kind words Scoliwings. We're very happy that you enjoyed our game. :D
We don't have team members who are deaf but some of our team members once communicated with a deaf friend and from there he also learned a little bit of SIBI (One of Indonesia's sign language).
From there, we have an idea to develop a game that could help people learn sign language easily by using it like a normal mechanic in game. By doing that, people will learn it without feeling it as a hard task.
We're always looking to improve our inclusivity and accessibility. Your feedback and enthusiasm can help us to continue working towards a more inclusive gaming experience for everyone.
If you have any more feedback, questions, or suggestions, please don't hesitate to reach out. We appreciate your input!
Hello! :3
